Keep Your Pooch Cool During the Dog Days in Summer

beníkvoda2Hot summer days are coming and we are bringing you some ideas how to protect your doggy from the heat stroke. Extreme hot weather is very dangerous for dogs because they are not able to regulate the temperature themselves as much as we humans do. You should never leave your dog in closed hot place such as car. Here are some tips how you can help your dog overcome this period of the year.

Water, water and water! At first you need to be sure your dog is hydrated. He should always have his water bowl full. Also if you have a garden you can prepare a pool or garden shower so that he cool himself whenever he wants. If your dog stays in apartment you can look for some cooling pad as you can see here. There are many ways how to save money by making it on your own

Next thing you can try is to put a cooling bandana or collar. It is filled with special crystals. You just put it into cold water for a few minutes and then it stays cool for hours. It is better than bandana filled with ice or frozen bandana because it isn’t heavy and it doesn’t cause discomfort to your pooch.

It one of the previous articles we wrote that ice-cream is not recommended for dogs but you can certainly make a dog ice-cream or some other frozen treats that your dog will love. What is the most popular flavour? Definitely peanut butter and banana! You can make it in a shape of popsicle, cake or whatever you want.
