Geotag Photos Pro 2 Update: New Maps, Solution for GPS Problems in China and More

During the past couple of months, we’ve been working really hard on a new update of Geotag Photos Pro 2 for both Android and iOS. We’re excited to announce that the update is now available in Google Play and App Store. Let’s take a look at what’s new in the app.

Automatic trip name suggestions

When creating a new trip, the app will now automatically suggest the trip name based on the location you’re at – the city, region, and state. This will make the trip-creating process faster and easier.

Geotag Photos Pro 2 is now also available in German, French, Spanish and Italian. If you have a localization suggestion for us to consider, you can reach out to us at

We made a few adjustments in the app to make Dropbox upload faster and the synchronization more reliable. We also fixed a minor issue with uploading to Dropbox that some of our users experienced, and it is now working smoothly without any problems.

GPS in China

As GPS positions in China are encrypted, our app wasn’t able to show the correct positions in the right place. We implement a fix for this issue to the iOS version of the app. From now on, whenever you’ll be in China, our app will be able to automatically detect it and will enable this fix. If you’re close to the borders (Hong Kong), it’s possible to turn this fix on and off manually.

Standard, satellite, terrain, and hybrid maps

Besides the regular map, you can now change to newly added types of maps. In the app Settings, you can choose from Standard, Satellite and Hybrid types of map. On Android, you can also choose Terrain type of map.

We are also happy to say that we will soon start working on a new desktop version of the app so you will be able to tag your photos more easily and reliably.

Don’t hesitate to write us your suggestions at, we are always happy to hear them!
